After 18 months of intensive work Simply Budgets Version 2 was launched in May 2011. This was the culmination of thousands of hours of research, brainstorming, listening to our customers and looking at what was good in Version 1 and asking the question how can we maintain or improve on that while improving the things that were not so good.
After much hard work, this new version is now receiving very positive feedback from our happy customers.
This web-page is intended for people who are current users of Simply Budgets V1 and highlights the changes and the new features that are additional to all the existing features.

NEW ‘Irregular Transactions’ Feature
- Create a series of transaction dates for income or expense items that do not necessarily occur on a strict repeating cycle. e.g. If you do not get paid during holidays you can now remove those dates from your income sequence
- Create a series of transactions where the amount varies rather than always appearing as the same value. e.g. your Electricity Bill might be higher in Winter and lower in Summer. Now you have the flexibility to enter different amounts for each scheduled occurrence.

If you want to transfer your current budget to this new version of Simply Budgets you MUST create a backup copy in the older version and then restore it to V2.0.

APPLE MAC:- Simply Budgets is not directly compatible with Apple Mac computers but will run successfully on current machines loaded with Windows or on older machines using Virtual PC, Crossover, Bootcamp or similar emulation software. You will need a Windows based Web-Browser and Windows based Adobe Reader installed on your Mac in order to register Simply Budgets and view support material. Check with your Apple Retailer prior to purchasing Simply Budgets.










So where do I find the ‘valid registration number’ on version 1?

If you originally received Simply Budgets in the mail there would have been a registration card in the pack. If delivery was via electronic download you would have received an e-mail with the download link to the software and your registration number would have been in that e-mail.
Let me know if you can;t find it.

There is no expiry date for people who purchase the Simply Budgets software.
It runs for 30 days unregistered. Anyone who purchases a copy simply registers it and can use it on an ongoing basis.

Hi David, I am keen to upgrade to the new version but can’t find the registration number. I found the letter when I upgraded to 1.4.2 but it only refers to the download. I wouldn’t know where to look for the original letter as I have been using Simply Budgets FOREVER (I think I was one of the early customers)! Our household budget is always under control because of being able to plan it with the software, the only drawback for me is that I can’t enter actuals in so can’t wait for that version as well. Anyway, could you please help me with this, excited to do our budget in the new version. Thanks, Tanya.

We are definitely onto this. The application we use to create the software has just announced a new product that will allow software developers to write an application (such as Simply Budgets) and then compile it for Windows, Mac, i-pad, i-phone and Linux.
This is very exciting!
It will mean a lot of work re-creating the displays but all the other code we now have will translate across. How long will this take? I don;t know!
This new software will be available mid September we are told.
That is the latest info I can give on this question which quite a few people are asking.
Simply Budgets will work on a Mac right now but I do understand it is not ideal using bootcamp or crossover or similar.
