You know, it’s funny how things happen sometimes.
I never really decided to write the current mini series you would have been receiving over the last few weeks with the intention of sending it out as part of my regular emails. I was just organising my thoughts prior to starting on the journey of creating Simply Budgets Version 3.
My programmer and I needed some really clear guidelines to help us as we started thrashing out a new product that would bring together all the input I got from surveys, customer feedback, support inquiries and what we have learnt over the years since Simply Budgets was first released.
We were looking for a really precise and clear statement that we could work from to help us create something better than ever before but also simpler than ever before.
I had a few attempts at creating this document and we had a few meetings to review what I had come up with. Each time we found ourselves crossing things off or deciding there was too much overlap and not enough clarity, so I would go back to refine my thoughts.
As I got clearer and clearer I realised I was creating a document that described the core of what I knew all along but had not managed to put so precisely into words.
I could see that what I had written would help people not only better understand what Simply Budgets is all about but also give them better clarity about where their money goes and how to manage it to get better results, regardless of whether they used my software or not!
So I decided to break it up into 6 bite-sized chunks (because I had refined it down to 6 points) and send it out in installments in my regular e-mails. I’ve now sent out 4 of the 6 installments and the next will be going out most likely tomorrow (Maybe you can guess what expenses it focuses on)!
Anyway, after the last installment I received an e-mail from a really awesome long standing customer. I think the whole suburb where these guys live has been converted over to Simply Budgets since they first discovered how well it worked for them and I believe that recently their son-in-law became a Simply Budgets convert as well.
So even with that level of belief in my product the e-mail I received basically said they had been waiting for this series of e-mails for 5 years!
I took it to mean that it really has helped clarify things for them and gave a better understanding of what Simply Budgets is all about (and I expect also how to make better use of the software as well).
Now I have to say I really appreciate it when people take the time to let me know what they like and what they don’t like about what I do. This particular comment confirmed for me that I’m on the right track with the next version of Simply Budgets.
However long it takes to create it, I already know it will be better than ever!
But wait there’s more (here come the steak knives), I now realise the importance of introducing these 6 expense types before I talk about any other concepts with new customers and/or e-mail subscribers.
The million dollar question is; how does this affect you?
Regardless of whether you have been a long time customer of mine or you have never been a customer of mine, if you look at your finances with these 6 types of expenses in mind and put into practice the considerations I give regarding storing and managing money for each area, you will be much better equipped to achieve great financial outcomes for you and your family into the future. I have no doubt about that!
As a result I have now woven these 6 expense types into what I already considered to be really powerful content that I’ve prepared for my next round of ‘Succeed with Money’ workshops and I am now even more excited about delivering this information in an interactive workshop environment than ever before!

Full price is $297 for the day and includes a copy of Simply Budgets and DebtBuster software. Deposits are refundable up until 2 weeks prior to any event. Workshops are scheduled between 9:00am and 5:00pm.
